How long does the Fire Mesh last?

While the Fire Mesh is designed to stand up to the intense heat of a campfire it does have a limited lifespan. The Fire Mesh is guaranteed for a minimum of 50 fires or one year. You can expect 100 fires per mesh before it needs replacing when cared for properly.

How does the Heat Shield work?

The Heat shield attaches to the upright legs of the Pop-Up Pit to prevent heat from transferring to the ground. Enjoy a fire on grass, wood decks or even ice without worrying about your campfire transferring heat to the ground.

How much weight can it hold?

Thanks to its interlocking assembly and cross brace design the Pop-Up Pit can hold up to 125lbs of fuel. More than enough capacity to handle even the densest wood logs.

Just remember, due to the airflow design a little bit of wood will go a long way!

How long does it take to tear down?

The Pop-Up Pit's aluminum design allows it to cool down in about 90 seconds after your fire has been extinguished. Once cooled, the Pop-Up Pit can be cleaned and packed away within a few minutes.

What fuel can I use?

You can burn any organic in the Pop-Up Pit including wood, charcoal, pellets, or paraffin wax logs.

You should never use any fire color changers or accelerants in your Pop-Up Pit as they may cause damage.

How should I clean the Pit?

Special care should be taken in regards to the Fire Mesh to ensure it has the longest lifespan possible. The Fire Mesh should be washed with fresh water before packing and storing it for a longer than a week. Take care to clean off as much of the excess ash as possible.

The Ember Guards and frame of the Pop-Up Pit do not need to be cleaned after every use but can be scrubbed with a nylon brush and a light detergent.

Can you cook on the Pop-Up Pit?

Cooking is always an option on the Pop-Up Pit thanks to the Grill Grate attachment and the Frontier Grates.

These optional accessories allow you to grill up burgers or cook with a dutch oven over your Pop-Up Pit. The best part is, when you're done cooking you can throw a few logs over your charcoal and enjoy your meal fireside.

Fire Mesh FAQ'S

What is the Fire Mesh made of?

The Fire Mesh is constructed from a proprietary stainless steel alloy designed to withstand the awesome heat of a campfire without getting brittle over time.

It is woven at the micron level to ensure 99% ash containment for the duration of your fire. This means only the finest ash will fall through the mesh.

How do I clean the Fire Mesh?

The Fire Mesh should be rinsed with fresh water before long term storage.

What can I burn on the Fire Mesh?

You can burn anything in the Fire Mesh that you normally would in a fire pit. This includes wood, charcoal, wood pellets, and paraffin wax logs.

Heat Shield FAQ’s

How does the heat shield work?

The heat shield works by reflecting the heat from your fire back up into the pit. By stopping that radiant heat from transferring to the ground we can effectively have a fire without damage to the surface below.

Do I need the heat shield?

The heat shield is not required for normal campfires. However, in order for the Pop-Up Pit to leave no trace the heat shield must be used. Some Federal and State lands do require the use of a heat shield.

Always check with local, State, and Federal regulations before having a fire.

How does the heat shield attach?

The heat shield should be attached about even with the ‘X’ brace of the Pop-Up Pit by wrapping the Velcro straps twice around the upright poles of the Pop-Up Pit.

Do I need to wash the heat shield?

The heat shield does not need to be washed; however, it can be washed off with fresh water on the aluminum-coated side. Discoloration is normal and cannot be reversed.

Grill Grate FAQ’s

How much weight can they hold?

The grill grates were designed with cast iron cookware in mind, capable of holding up to 85lbs per panel without warping.

How big is the cooking area?

We offer two different sizes of grill, the Tri-fold grill and Quad-fold grill.

The Tri-Fold covers about 75% of the Pop-Up Pit and measures in at 16.5”x 22.5”

The Quad-Fold grill covers 100% of the cooking area of your Pop-Up Pit and measures 22.5” x 22.5”

What are the grill grates made of?

The Grill grates are constructed entirely from 304 food-grade stainless steel. The connectors and grill rails are constructed from a 6064 aluminum.

Do the grill grates come with a carrying case?

Yes, the grill grates come in their own easy to clean carrying case. This ensures if your grill grates are dirty after cooking they don't get that grime all over your other camping gear.

The carrying case has a wide opening for easy cleaning.

What does the kit include?

Both the Tri-Fold and Quad-Fold grilling grates include a carrying case, two grill rails, and four attachment stanchions. The kits will also include their respective grill whether that be the Tri-Fold Grill or the Quad-Fold Grill.

The Pop-Up Pit is not included.

Frontier Grates FAQ’s

What are the Frontier Grates for?

The Frontier grates were designed to allow Dutch oven cooking or larger logs within your Pop-Up Pit.

Can I use them with the grill grates?

The Frontier grates were designed for usage concurrently with any of the other Pop-Up Pit accessories including the grill grates.

What are they made of?

The Frontier Grates are made entirely from 304 stainless steel.

What size Dutch ovens can I use?

The Frontier grates are designed to work with Dutch ovens with or without legs 10” in diameter or greater.

How do they attach?

The Frontier Grates attached to your Pop-Up Pit after it is fully constructed. Simply guide the 2 locking rails overtop of the upright poles of the Pop-Up Pit. Then insert the 4 V-rails with the points facing upwards inside the precut areas of the locking rails.

Ember Mat FAQ’s

What is the Ember Mat for?

The Ember Mat is an essential piece of leave no trace gear designed to protect the area around your fire pit or grill from popping embers or dripping grease. The Ember Mat helps to ensure the area around your fire pit stays as pristine as you found it.

Will the Ember Mat stop heat transfer?

The Ember Mat will slow heat transfer to the ground from your fire pit, but it will not stop it entirely.The Ember Mat should not be used on grass or wood decks without a proper leave no trace fire pit or heat shield.

Where can I use the Ember Mat?

The Ember Mat is safe to use on any surface.

The Ember Mat may cause moisture to linger so care should be taken if leaving it on a wood deck for an extended period of time.

Is it fireproof?

The Ember Mat is fireproof however you should remove any burning embers from the mat as quickly as possible to avoid damage to the silicon coating. The Ember Mat will slow but will NOT stop heat transfer to the ground.

What is the coating?

The Ember Mat is coated in a food grade silicon. This means if you have a run-away hot dog it is still safe to eat!It also prevents the itchy feeling so often associated with other fiber glass mats.

Can I leave the Ember Mat on my deck?

The Ember Mat can be left on wood decks for an extended period of time. However, the silicon coating may cause moisture to set on the deck for a longer period of time. Letting the area under the mat air out after a rain is recommended.

Trailblazer FAQ’s

How big is the Trailblazer?

The Trailblazer measures in at 12”x12” x 11” tall when opened and 14”x4”4” when packed away.

What is the difference between the Pop-Up Pit and the Trailblazer?

The Trailblazer is essentially a shrunken down version of the Pop-Up Pit with all the bells and whistles. The Trailblazer kit includes both the grill grates and heat shield, both of which are optional on the Pop-Up Pit.

The Trailblazer opens to 12”x12”while the Pop-Up Pit opens to 24”x24”

How much weight can it hold?

The Fire Mesh in the Trailblazer can comfortably hold up to 45 pounds while the grill grates can hold up to 25lbs.

Do I need to stake it to the ground?

Thanks to the Trailblazer’s low center of gravity, it does not need to be staked down. The Trailblazer will continue to get more stable as weight is added to the pit. 

What does the kit include?

The Trailblazer kit includes the Fire Mesh, Frame, 4 Ember Guards, the Folding grill, and Heat Shield

Thermal Glove FAQ’s

What is the temperature limit?

The Thermal Gloves are designed to withstand temperatures up to 932F for up to 10 seconds. Any usage beyond this temperature can cause damage to the gloves and possible harm to the user.

Never use when wet.

Are they food safe?

The Thermal gloves are coated with a food grade silicon for grip and safety when handling food products.

What are the limitations?

The Thermal gloves should never be used when wet or on temperatures in excess of 932F.

Fire Cover FAQ’s

What is the Campfire Defender made of?

The Campfire Defender is crafted from a woven glass silica then coated in a high temperature silicon. The glass acts to resist and reflect the heat from the campfire while the silicon prevents rain or moisture from entering your fire pit.

Can I use it to extinguish my fire?

The Campfire Defender can be used to extinguish a burning campfire. Simply cover the fire and open the pinwheel vent all the way to allow maximum airflow into the fire pit. By trapping the heat and allowing airflow into your fire pit we can extinguish the fire by quickly burning through all of the fuel.

The Campfire Defender can be used to smother a fire as well, but this should only be used in emergencies as direct contact with logs may cause damage to the cover over time.

Can I use it on a burning fire?

The Campfire Defender is designed to be used on a fire at the end of the night with flames less than 6”. However, it is built to withstand full flames in the event of an emergency or sudden high wind when your campfire needs to be knocked down.

Do I have to use the center stake?

The center stake is designed to keep the cover pitched up over top of the fire pit, however it does not need to be used in fire pits with cement bottoms.

What is included in the kit?

The Campfire Defender kit includes the campfire defender cover, 8 glow in the dark tent stakes, 2 part center tent stakes, utility gloves, and an LED flashlight.

Can I use this to bank my coals?

The Campfire Defender can be used to bank your coals.

Can I use this to leave my fire unattended?

A campfire should never be left unattended even when using the Campfire Defender.
